Details:
Porcelain is a beautiful, durable material that yields stunning results even with simple techniques.
In this three-hour workshop you will have the chance to work with pure white porcelain clay, learning different mark-making techniques. I have a huge variety of tools, stamps, laser-cut shapes, textures and cutters, many with a Christmas theme, but also patterns, animals, coral, dinosaurs, a bicycle, etc. I also have many different letter stamps for you to personalise your creations.I have a wide range of stoneware glazes and brightly coloured underglazes to suit every taste and we will use the underglazes towards the end of the workshop. Pieces can be quickly painted with non-toxic underglazes in one wash, or in layers. Alternatively, you can take more time, painting individual areas in different colours. There will also be an option to choose glazes for me to glaze the pieces at home once the clay has fully dried.

I will fire and return all pieces to The Independent Design Collective for collection at the beginning of December. All materials and tools are included, but if you have any interesting textures or stamps, you are welcome to bring them along. Leaves, seedpods, lace and knitted fabrics work well.
All mark making techniques learned can be adapted for use with polymer clay when you are working at home.
What you can make:
Make a number of different items including Christmas decorations, name-plaques, beads, buttons, brooches and pendants…all returned in time for Christmas gift-giving!
How many pieces you make depends on how you work…make stamped, named decorations for all your family-maybe thirty or forty beads, buttons and pendants-or you may choose to work on two or three bigger, more complicated pieces.
