Independent Design Collective is committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of visitors to our website & shop and subscribers to our newsletter. We do not use the data you give us in any way other than how we specifically state we will do so. Using your information
We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998). We collect information about you for two reasons: firstly, to process your order and second, to provide you with the best possible service. We will not e-mail you in the future unless you have given us your consent. We will give you the chance to refuse any marketing email from us or from another trader in the future.
The information we collect
The type of information we will collect about you includes your name, address, phone number, email address. We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent. The information we hold will be accurate and up to date. You can check the information that we hold about you by emailing us. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly.
Protecting your information
The personal information which we hold will be held securely in accordance with our internal security policy and the law. We may use technology to track the patterns of behaviour of visitors to our site. This can include using a "cookie" which would be stored on your browser. You can usually modify your browser to prevent this happening. The information collected in this way can be used to identify you unless you modify your browser settings.
Mailing list
We would like to send you up to date news, offers and information as part of our regular newsletter. We may also want to inform you of any new products or brands that we have added. To do this, we will need some personal information from you – your email address and your name. We use this data to email you about products we are selling, events we are attending, new blogs and anything else we feel is relevant or of interest to you. We may also contact you to check that your information is correct, or to check you are still happy to receive new content from us. We will never give, sell, trade or rent any of your data to, or with, other organisations or businesses.
We use a third party provider, Mailchimp, to deliver the newsletter. Using Mailchimp’s reports on the emails we send, we gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our newsletter. We will not use the data you have given to us when you subscribe to our newsletter in any other way. It will not be saved on any other system aside from the Mailchimp list you signed up for, and we will not transfer it to any other lists unless you ask us to do so.
You have the option to unsubscribe at any time from our newsletter, either by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails, by emailing mail@independentdesigncollective.com or by going into your Mailchimp account and unsubscribing.
Payment
Payment is taken immediately by our online payment providers Shopify Payments. Independent Design Collective uses the latest security measures to protect your details when you shop with us. All payments are collected and processed by Shopify. We never ever see your credit card number. Shopify Payments offer a secure payment gateway for online credit and debit card processing. If you decide to cancel your order or we cannot fulfil an order, a full refund will be issued to your card via a second transaction. Do not email your card details. We can accept no responsibility if you provide us with your details in this way.
Card fraud is illegal and will always lead to prosecution. Independent Design Collective takes all reasonable care, in so far as it is in our power to do so, to keep the details of your order and payment secure, but in the absence of negligence on our part we cannot be held liable for any loss you may suffer if a third party obtains unauthorised access to any data you provide when accessing or ordering using our website.
Holding your data
We hold your data for a minimum of 1 year unless you tell us that you would like it to be removed. You will always be given a choice and we will not do anything with your data that you do not explicitly consent to.

To prevent unauthorised access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
